I want to tell you about Shelly Ave. I am just a small client with not much going for me except for a dream to buy my first home a little late in life. “I never thought I could own a home... she and her team went through my credit report line by line and helped me. We had a fast closing, low mortgage rate, and the best service.”
I never thought I could own a home until I met Shelly. I had $200,000 in student loans, 3 maxed out credit cards from grad school, and a long list of bad marks on my credit report..my credit score was around 400. I had come to terms with the fact that I would be renting in Chicago - until I died until Shelly was introduced to me by a friend, and she said "'It won't hurt to take a look." She said it was going to be a lot of work but we can do it, and we did. She and her team went through my credit report line by line and helped me call by creditors, settle bad debt, and make all the arrangements necessary to get a preapproval. Now, a couple months later, my partner and I got an offer in on a condo, a closing date set, our life in boxes ready to move, tuxes packed for our wedding set in Europe, and all of our family and friends coming into town, all within a few weeks. Then, the seller forged some paperwork and we had to move the closing. Given our wedding, honeymoon across Europe, 40 people flying in to town, we only had one option for a closing date. This next part sounds like a movie or something, but it really happened. We had to move out of our rental and into storage, we had to stay with some friends for 2 weeks until we flew to Europe to get married, in the meantime Shelly worked her behind off to get an entire new mortgage under written in a few weeks and closing the day after we come back back. Mind you, we were 7 hours ahead and completing docusigns and taking calls through a mobile hotspot in between. We had a lovely wedding and river cruise down the Danube. We arrive back in Chicago on a Sunday evening, wake up Monday morning for the final walkthrough and close on the condo 12 hours later, move in that afternoon, then set the new condo and hosted 80 people for our wedding reception 48 hours later. It was a whirlwind, and we owe the success of our marriage and our home to Shelly Ave of Guaranteed Rate. We had a fast closing, low closing costs, low mortgage rate, low appraisal fees, and the best dang service that we didn't know existed. Cut to a couple years later, and the work Shelly did with me on my credit report has brought my credit score to 776 and we're getting ready for another mortgage somewhere warm! Moral of this very long story: you don't know your options until you call Shelly.

From start to finish, the GR team was incredible. It's been a LONG process to find our home with lots of showings, multiple offers, and even a deal that fell through. When we found a home we absolutely loved, we knew we had to have the perfect lending team behind us to secure the home and the loan to close without an issue in record time (17 days!). Guaranteed Rate was the right choice (and that’s coming from a customer who works for a bank).
Shelly and her team including Josh, Camille, Elizabeth, and Val (I'm sure I'm missing some folks) were amazing. They helped guide my wife and I and made what could have been a very stressful process, extremely easy. No matter the time of day or what questions we had, we were able to reach Shelly and get an answer. She was always thoughtful in her responses, and it was clear she had our best interest in mind. She wasn’t just trying to close the deal and notch another win for her team.
In the final hour, we had one last hiccup with the title company’s bank not accepting our gift wire transfer, but Shelly (even while traveling) was on it with her team. She was able to get our loan back into emergency underwriting and have it reapproved with no problem at all so we could still close just two hours later. Amazing. I don’t think any other lender would have been able to close on our home in 17 days and reapprove our loan at the last minute to avoid a delay. This GR team should be recognized as one of the best. We're grateful for everyone's help over the past few weeks and look forward to partnering in the future!
