I had started with out the intention of using Chase Bank as my mortgage broker, what a mistake. I never had a cell phone number for anyone there or any way to get in touch with them if the situation required urgency. My wife and I recently purchased our first home . The process was daunting and I didn't really know where to begin, so I first went to the bank where I have a checking and savings account (one of the large commercial banks) to learn more about what it takes to buy a home, and applied for pre-qualification. The folks at my bank were happy to help me while I was in the branch, but when I called with questions about different loan types, rates, etc. it was impossible to get someone on the line, and I was lucky if I received a call back in several days.
My realtor suggested I give Jason at Peoples Bank a call, and I'm so glad I did. In our first conversation we spoke for over 30 minutes and he clearly explained the pros and cons of different loan types, ran the numbers to show me how the interest rates would vary, and counseled me on what he thought made most sense without trying to pressure me into one option or another. Jason was easy to get a hold of, responded to emails immediately, and was a partner to my wife and I through each step of the process.
An additional benefit of working with Peoples Bank was that everything was done online, and their electronic document interface is super easy to use, so no multiple-trips to the bank with various printouts were required. They also have short animated videos to help explain each new phase of the loan process as you enter it.
Peoples Bank lives up to its name - I have zero complaints, and recommend them without reservation!
