I am a 60-year-old financial services professional from the Soundview section of the Bronx, specifically the James Monroe Houses, Yes NYCHA. I began my career on Wall Street as an Executive Assistant and later became an Analyst, spending years supporting C-level executives across industries. I always rented and took pride in maintaining a comfortable, stable lifestyle, but after moving to Newark, NJ, the growing development in my neighborhood repeatedly forced me to relocate when property owners decided to sell. When my property manager who became my Realtor, suggested that I consider ownership, I was hesitant because my credit score was 520, I had no real savings, and I did not feel prepared. Still, she believed I had what it took and offered to partner with me on the journey. In March 2026, she connected me with a her Lender that she has partnered with and closed many deals, and I also reached out to Adrian, whom I followed on social media and knew worked with mortgages. Adrian encouraged me and said he was confident Rate could help get me to the closing table, even though I continued moving forward with my original lender. Although I doubted the process and nearly gave up, I prayed for a clear sign, and soon after, my credit score rose to 658. I found a home I loved, made an offer, and it was accepted, but as rates climbed, my original lender still had not locked me in. Adrian, however, had already secured me a much lower rate because he understood where the market was headed. I switched to Rate, and with Adrian and my realtor Na’Imah supporting me through the process, I made it to the closing table with ease. Today, I am proud to say I am a homeowner in Newark, NJ. They saw the vision before I could even conceive it.
